Equality
Branch Equality Co-ordinators have a number of important functions but are rarely in a position to carry sole responsibility for the Branch’s equality work. In view of this, a decision was taken at the 2015 Branch AGM to create four new representative positions in line with UNISON’s self-organised groups (SOG), to help boost self-representation on equal rights issues. If you’d like to find out more about UNISON’s self-organised groups, details can be found at https://www.unison.org.uk/get-involved/challenge-inequality-and-discrimination/
The four Equality rep roles are as follows:
– Black members Representative
– Disabled members Representative
– Women members Representative
– LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) members Representative
If you would you like to be involved in helping to raise awareness of the specific issues that your group faces and work with the Branch and the wider union to seek fairer treatment, or you’d like to find out more about the work of the roles, please get in touch with your Branch Equalities Co-ordinator – https://unisongoldsmiths.org.uk/branch-officers/.
