Dear Members,

The higher education pay ballot closed on 30 October 2019.

The results are that a majority of members voted in favour of strike action. Unfortunately, the turnout in the ballot did not reach the legally required threshold of 50% that is needed to take strike action. For more information go to unison.org.uk/news/article/2019/10/he-ballot-result-2/

UCU will be taking strike action nationally and they will be taking continuous strike action for 8 days from Monday 25 November until Wednesday 4 December.

I am sure many of our members will show their solidarity and support to our UCU colleagues throughout the strike dates during lunch and tea breaks.

If you’re showing solidarity and sharing pictures on social media, you can use the hashtags #UCUstrike #UCUstrikesback and Goldsmiths’ UCU twitter handle is @GoldsmithsUCU. Feel free to also tag us too using our twitter handle @unisongold or on Facebook at facebook.com/UNISONGoldsmiths/

Yours Sincerely,

Sheila Faucher
