Dear Cleaning Members,
UNISON are getting a number of complaints about a fringe group telling cleaners not to go on campus. UNISON are in close communication with Jeanette Batten and cleaning managers and Goldsmiths Senior Leadership Team concerning all revaluation of risk assessments and the reduced rotas which have been overseen by Health and Safety protocols suggested by the Trade Union Council (TUC) and UNISON’s HE service Group. I strongly advise any members to follow Goldsmiths policies and procedures as workers. If you do not turn up for work this can be seen as a ‘breach of contract’. Our union has suggested that individuals who are ‘shielding’ follow Government guidelines.
Staff who were shielding last year during the first lockdown would have already been risk assessed by their department and would have been notified. If you have not been contacted by your department, please make contact with your line manager and Head of department who will advise and you.
Our members are more than welcome to contact UNISON, via email or on 07960127076.
With Kind Regards,
Sheila Faucher,
Goldsmiths’ UNISON Branch Secretary
