“We need to reflect, truly listen to figure out ways to move forward in solidarity” – Margaret Greer @BlackUNISON
Today UNISON is supporting and showing solidarity with Black Lives Matter movement and our members by observing a day-long blackout in response to the death of George Floyd and the unlawful killings of other Black people. The day of action is showing solidarity in the music industry that will see radio shows and music channels turn off, with eight minutes and 46 seconds of silence of music – the length of time they state a white police officer in Minneapolis knelt on the neck of George Floyd.
This action is being taken to bring about ‘change and accountability’ and UNISON fully supports all of our regions and activists plans to support and stand with the Black community. We need to reflect, truly listen to figure out ways to move forward in solidarity.
